Episode 268: The Spirit of Lutheranism

In episode TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY-EIGHT, Jason and Wade discuss the spirit of Lutheranism and what that might be, if there is one. We focus especially on two contemporaries of Martin Luther, Matthias Flacius Illyricus and Johannes Bugenhagen. Should Lutheranism’s spirit be more Luther or Melanchthon, Flacius or Bugenhagen? Ultimately, we decide Lutheranism has only one Spirit who works through the means of grace to proclaim sins forgiven and strengthen faith. In the process, that Spirit uses all sorts of people with different personalities, gifts, and dispositions. We hope you enjoy the episode!
